Welcome
Big Man is a celebratory event of canal based activities at the Forth & Clyde Canal, Maryhill Locks, with a programme on land and on water for all the family. The event will take place at Maryhill Canal Locks on Saturday 4 October, from 4pm to 8pm.
The event takes its reference to the proposed Maryhill Bigman - a sculpted feature proposal for a new footbridge which will stand on the Stockingfield Junction of the Forth & Clyde Canal in Maryhill, Glasgow. (See: The Big Man)
There will be a range of outdoor activities including opportunities to try canoeing and kayaking, enjoy boat trips along the canal, storytelling, street theatre, model boats, angling, exhibitions, arts & crafts, food and drink, dance and live music performances.
The event is a partnership between The Waterways Trust Scotland, Glasgow Canal Regeneration Partnership (British Waterways Scotland, Glasgow City Council, ISIS), Cube Housing, Glasgow Housing Association, Queen’s Cross Housing Association, Sustrans Scotland and Maryhill Housing Association. Supported by Diageo.
